That's definitely an interesting take on it. Someone needs to go through Twitter sharing that with all his adoring fans; see how many get triggered.

That's true, and expected, but the point was more about the "landslide" victory being a bit of a stretch.

Republicans like to make every GOP victory a landslide. I remember how the 2000 election was a Bush landslide. Not only was it close but Bush had fewer votes but allegedly won in a landslide.

How did he get less votes? He won. He got more electoral votes, which isn't directly related to the number of total voters across the country. Gore got more of the popular vote.

I thought that was common knowledge.

I thought that was common knowledge. Only for facts-and-figures demographics. Gut-based demographics aren't interested in particulars like numbers. Confirmation bias is favoring information that supports our beliefs while brushing off information that contradicts it, so if you like your guy winning in a landslide you'll naturally favor things that say that and forget information contradicting it. Instead they preferred pictures like this 2000 Presidential election map: accompanied by words saying stuff like "Bush country" because it looks better. This isn't as popular because it doesn't look as good: Gore: 50,992,335Bush: 50,455,156The map picture also makes it easier to convince people it was a landslide victory even though he not only lost the popular vote by 537,139 votes but also only won the electoral vote by a margin of 1%. In some minds, 1% is a landslide. Pperplexing is I did the math on those vote counts and it doesn't match another source saying Bush lost by 543,895.

The map shows how most of the country voted for Bush.

The map shows how most of the country voted for Bush. Most of the land but not most of the people.
