I had this coworker that would treat me like I was lazy if I didn't do his job for him.
Going into details would be good for understanding the situation better but it would be a lot to explain. In short, ideally we would cover each other when we go to break, but our job functions were very different. If he didn't cover me a bit while I am on break, we run out of product and the business loses money for a while. His role was stocking up materials to make the product, but that didn't need to be a continuous process, as the materials came in bulk amounts that would last a while. You could have gaps for stuff like breaks and catch back up.
I'm not too lazy to help. Aside from if you ask him, I'd always had a reputation as a hard worker. I've often been the benchmark. The problem with this one particular coworker is he wouldn't have his materials caught up much before going to break, and if I helped him set up more while he's out, he comes back and sees we have enough to last a while and he goes to sitting around waiting on the materials to run down a certain amount. It didn't normally run down that much until after he would go to his next break.
Basically, he'd let me do his job for him. If I decided this wasn't fair and he should do his own job a bit, he'd lecture me about "around here we help each other" like I'm lazy. If I help cover him like he wants while he's on break, I do his job while he's away so he can come back to nothing to do and sits around doing nothing.
Thoughts?
