Anyone seen the Panderverse episode of South Park? If so, thoughts? It deals with characters being replaced with more diverse versions and whether or not the diverse replacement is still that same person.

people need to leave characters alone. im a woman but i aint upset batman isnt a woman. im cool with women characters of course but they should make new ones.

People get upset when the race or gender of characters get changed. They're characters. They're not real people. They can be whatever we want them to be, right?

People get upset when the race or gender of characters get changed. They're characters. They're not real people. They can be whatever we want them to be, right? It's true that they aren't real, but they are established. People tend to like an established character remaining as it was established. Batman, for example, is just a guy in an outfit with gadgets and no super powers, and since he's technically not a real person and can be whatever we want, we could give him the ability to fly and shoot lasers form his eyes, but people would be upset by that because that's not the Batman we know. Make a new character that dresses like Batman and has flight and eye lasers. People like to assume it's just a racism or sexism thing, but people wouldn't be any more happy if Wonder Woman was converted to Wonder Man, and people wouldn't be any less upset if Black Panther, Storm, or Spawn were made white. Lol. How about Danny Treho? I'd watch that. Danny Trejo is awesome.  "Machete have a dream." |

I guess that's fair.
I never saw Machete. Danny Trejo is a scary dude. That's not why I didn't watch Machete. I'm just saying he looks like he'd be a hardened criminal.

I am open to diversity but I get why people don't like characters being changed to force diversity on them. You get to know and love characters and suddenly they are something totally different with the same name slapped on them.
