I really enjoyed a lot of game music of old, like NES and SNES. I felt that was the golden era of game music. Since then audio quality improved, having CD quality audio instead of electronic midi music, but the music back then was more catchy and more memorable. You could play me music from a Mega Man game and I could tell you that's the music from Skull Man's stage in Mega Man 4 or that's the first part of Dr. Wily's castle in Mega Man 2. Most games today have forgettable music. Somebody might be a huge Halo fan but if you played them music from the third level of Halo 2 or whatever, they probably couldn't even narrow it down to the Halo franchise, let alone which part of which specific game.
That's not to say it's all bad today. Assassin's Creed: Valhalla had some good music. I love the music of The Elder Scrolls games. I feel like it's quite a feat that I can play a TES game for hundreds of hours and still enjoy hearing the music that I've heard for hundreds of hours. It's pleasing but not in your face. Well, the awesome music that plays when a dragon attacks in Skyrim is kinda in your face, but it's always exciting when you hear it. It's like, "Hold on. Let me crank this up."
One of my all-time favorite video game soundtracks to date is Final Fantasy VI. In fact, I was just listening to it on YouTube just a bit ago.
This is from FF6 but of course not as it would have been on SNES on account of it not being capable of anything other than a MIDI:
