So here's a debate I saw on social media. Places like Facebook allow everyone to share so much and you can go back through a person's posts and pics and see a snapshot of their lives. It's almost like a public diary. When couples break up, people commonly delete pics of their exes. Should they? Should they be expected to erase all mention of their exes, or at least photos of them and with them?

Yes. I wouldn't want Chuck holding onto a bunch of old pictures of his exes. What's he need them for?

I get why people feel you need to erase your exes, but your exes are a part of your past and helped shape your life experiences and who you are. They're characters in your life story. Erasing all memory of them is like erasing part of your life story.

You make an interesting point.

I suppose deleting exes from existence is about jealousy and maybe, at least on occasion, shame.

People need to grow up a bit and stop being so controlling and possessive. Expecting your new partner to wipe out any reference or memory of their exes are clearly driven by jealousy.

I don't have exs only former partners. Once I'm bored with them it's time for them to leave.
