People are debating whether shooting the intruder was justified or not, and whether it was right to evict her or not.

Unless she wasn't allowed to have a firearm, I don't agree with her beings evicted. As for shooting the intruder, I support the mom. I'm not waiting for a criminal to prove themselves a threat to my family before I shoot them. I value my family over a thousand criminals. If they've broken into my house, they're already a criminal and already proven themselves to be scum of poor moral character that can't be trusted. I'm not gambling on the dishonorable criminal with my family's lives. I don't know if I'd definitely pull the trigger because I've never been in this scenario for real, but at the very least they're going to be looking straight into a gun. I'm at least holding them at gunpoint until police show up, but I can't rule out actually shooting.

When a person shoots an intruder, isn't that deciding that your things are worth more than a person's life?

I get that sentiment, but using my home as an example, there is more to protect in my house than just the inanimate objects. I have a wife and two children that are worth everything and I will give my life defending theirs. Anyone that potentially jeopardizes their lives or welfare forfeit there own. Further, it's not us deciding that our things are worth dying for, but the person breaking into our homes deciding that our things are worth them dying for.

When a person shoots an intruder, isn't that deciding that your things are worth more than a person's life? it isnt about my belongings. its about protecting my family. its about them violating the sanctety of my home. your supposed to be safe in your home and nobody should be able to take that away from you.

I still don't know that actually shooting was necessary. Maybe it's where I'm from a country that doesn't adore guns as much but I think we're more reluctant to start shooting here.
