My daughter's costume arrived today. We already had my son's. They're Nezuko and Tanjiro from Demon Slayer. Yesterday the solar-powered lights came in and I got those up outside before I went to work. They're purple and orange. We already had a couple skeletons and several gravestone type things out front. My wife always comments on me decorating, saying if we decorate people expect we are treating, but we won't be home because we're taking the kids trick-or-treating. We'll, those people can be disappointed, I guess. I decorate because it brings a bit of joy to the kids.

I think halloween is fun
last year, I gave out candy spiders to all the kids who stopped at my door
one poor kid thought I was actually holding a real spider..

our family was very religious. we werent big on worshiping the devil. our church use to have hallelujahween.

They've had their share of pastors and other affiliations with the church. My uncle was praised by his pastor for all he's done for the church. Every Christmas morning their family read from the Bible as part of their Christmas tradition. They still trick-or-treated, those. They didn't depict it as worshipping the devil but as kids having harmless fun. Around here people tried waging war against Halloween. Thirty years ago several houses put up signs saying stuff like "here we worship Jesus, not Satan." Their efforts were unsuccessful, as has been the case with everything Christendom has fought. A couple decades back I went to a church that did something similar to your church. They called it "Jesusween," which sounds either ridiculous or hilarious, depending on what sort of mind you have. |
