I've been faced with a moral dilemma. My cousin called yesterday. I never hear from her which had me concerned why she was suddenly calling. It's something about her food stamps and her at risk of losing them if she doesn't claim some kind of income. That doesn't sound right to me but I don't know about such things. She claimed we sometimes pay her to do stuff for us. I guess there's no way anyone could prove she doesn't since paying cash would leave no paper trail but she wants me to play along with the lie if they call and ask. I don't want her losing her food stamps since she's taking care of several kids but I don't like being asked to lie about this. Both options feel bad.

I'm sorry. That's a tough one. I advocate honesty and don't approve of lying, but I also don't want to do something to hurt someone. I really don't know what side I'd take.

Write me down for siding with the woman getting the food stamps. I don't get why she needs income to get assistance but if she needs the assistance than I say whatever it takes if it don't hurt nobody.

A person needs to take care of there family first. Whatever that takes.

A person needs to take care of there family first. Whatever that takes. I generally agree but I don't know if I'd go quite so far as leaving it completely open-ended. I wouldn't condone, for example, armed robbery intended to get money for food.

You need to take care of your family but surely there's a line somewhere between what's acceptable and what's going too far. I'm not saying this topic issue is necessarily going too far but more in response to Jormungandr.

I'd told her I'd help but it doesn't feel good.

It is, more or less, but a decent human being won't hurt someone else's family in the process, for example.
