If you could save one material thing from a fire, what would you save?
I don't know what I'd pick. I've seen others have an idea of something special to them in some way like a wedding dress, photo album of memories, a family heirloom, something really valuable. I just don't think I have any single thing that stands out as so much more special than anything else. If I have to pick then maybe an old jewelry box that belonged to Nana.

A torch shaped like a cat. It's very weak, and barely flashes, but it's the only thing I have of a friend who passed away. It's also the only thing I have from my childhood that still kind of works and hasn't been lost or broken. It also smells like old buildings, and that reminds me of younger days

It's hard to pick one thing because there's a handful that have special significance. One is a stuffed rabbit ("Bunny") that I've had since Easter of 1987 and it was on my bed even in high school. There's also several things that belonged to my father, who passed away after Christmas of 2016 but was revived only to pass away again at the beginning on 2017. Unfortunately, most of those things are his gun cabinet or things kept locked inside it so they're bulky or at least hard to get to in a hurry. A torch shaped like a cat. It's very weak, and barely flashes, but it's the only thing I have of a friend who passed away. It's also the only thing I have from my childhood that still kind of works and hasn't been lost or broken. It also smells like old buildings, and that reminds me of younger days Just to clarify for our American members, a torch is a flashlight, not like a flamethrower. I know the term from all the British programs I've viewed. At first I wasn't sure what they meant by a torch and expected something making flames. Bonus: What we call a car's hood is a bonnet. The trunk is the boot. Gas is petrol. 🤔 I had more but now I forget.

I don't know if I have anything so special that I'd rush to save it in a fire.

I don't know if I have anything so special that I'd rush to save it in a fire. Come to think of it, I was treating this hypothetically but I guess I know how I'd answer in reality because I've sort of been there for real. Technically my house wasn't on fire but rather my neighbor's, but our houses are so close together that mine was going to be next. I was watching F1 and smelled smoke. I went outside to see where it was coming from and the house next door was up in flames. The wind was blowing the flames straight towards our house. My wife was at work but the kids were still in bed asleep. I ran inside telling them to throw their shoes on and get outside. All I cared about was getting them out. Firefighters ultimately saved our house but had they been much later it would likely also be gone. The flames melted off our siding and broke windows on that side of the house. Blinds on the other side of the window melted. Our gas meter was right there. I don't know how it died blow up.

I'm glad you got your family out safely.

I think the smart thing would be save nothing. Just get out. Don't go back in. Ain't nothing in there worth dying for.

True but this is hypothetical. I think it's more about what would be special enough.
