I may revise my possible scenarios involving hypothetical extraterrestrials here on Earth. Specifically, in the past I figured that they wouldn't just come here and do nothing, but would probably wipe us out and take over our planet, for resources or whatever, like in Independence Day or War of the Worlds. I think now that there's possibly an error in that line of thinking. I think that assumes that the aliens would view us any differently from the rest of the animals here. We assume that they would view us as the rulers/owners of this world and that taking it would mean eliminating us first. They might not see that as necessary.
If they see as as no different from the other animals, they might not give us any more thought than they would the other animals. Yes, we are a bit more intelligent and more capable than other animals, but that doesn't mean they have to view us differently from them. As an illustration, not all the animals on our world are equally intelligent or equally capable. Dolphins, for example, are more intelligent than most other species, but we don't see them as anything we need to feel threatened by and don't give them any more thought than we do the dumbest of critters. Birds build nests, and beavers can change their whole ecosystem, not just building housing for themselves but their dams can flood whole areas, completely changing them. We can build more elaborate stuff and on larger scales, but we could look no different to aliens than beavers do to us.
Allegedly, one of the people used in government remote viewing programs has been in mental contact with extraterrestrials, and when he asked them what they think of humans the answer he got was "not much." Supposedly they were here doing their own thing with little regard for us; little more than they regarded any other animals here. Supposedly, they would only intervene if it appeared that we were going to do something that would catastrophically harm the planet; specifically nuclear war. Please understand that I do not subscribe to these stories, but I thought the concept of them doing their business here with little thought of us was interesting. Perhaps that part is plausible.
