Winter is coming. What kind of winter do we expect? I've heard mild and I've heard severe.

I've heard both, too, but I haven't seen or heard anything supporting the severe wind predictions. NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which is made up of experts on this sort of thing, predicts a warmer winter for the Pacific Northwest and New England states, and drier for some northern states, while wetter across the southern states. www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/long_range/seasonal.php?lead=4It's worth noting that this is specifically for the US, but the US is 4.5% of the global population and one nation out of 200-ish. Our winter doesn't reflect that of anyone else. What's more, only the northern hemisphere has winter approaching. If someone from New Zealand popped in here, they might be like, "What do you mean 'winter is coming?' We just left it."
